Nov 25, pm Oahu
Finally found some time to fish. So I put the
kayak in the pickup and decided to try somewhere new. The tide was dropping a whole half of foot, the current was wrapping around a point I found; the wind kept swinging widely from side shore, off shore, opposite side shore; the swells kept popping up everywhere--only 1-3'--but predicted to be 25' on the Northshore by Sunday; and the water temp sat a solid 78F. I trolled around hoping to find a Trevally, but only nailed a tasty Humuhumu Eleele. Love the meat on Tiggers. Plus a Aha Needlefish. This is Oahu's west side. I'm here to figure out if I can make a living here in my old field of engineering. I'll tell you what... They got some fish over here. The shallows have a variety of reef fish, including big Trevallys that hunt in groups. Just beyond the reefs is the deep blue sea with more year round game fish. A couple of days ago I saw an 80lb Sailfish a Hawaiian nailed on his yak. I'm moving here very soon. |
