Sunrise Fishing DP 8/23

Fishing was okay, but the sunrise was awesome. Had the first fish hooked as the sun crested the hills. Not the biggest fish ever, but hard to beat the scenery and the view! Current was up since last week, as evidenced by my gps tracks that looked like a bowl of spaghetti by 7:30am... Water temps varied from 74-76. Got a dozen or so calico and 1 bonita. Lots of decent sized barracuda around screwing with my bait and lurking under the kayak. Bait was rough and didn't want to cooperate. Trolled some macs around on a slider in deeper water behind the kelp for a bit with no luck. Didn't keep anything and was out of the water by noon. All in all, not a bad way to spend the morning.
