Newport Harbor 10-22-18
Hit NPH for a quick trip this morning. On the water at 7 a.m., off at 10. Stayed in the harbor for such a quick one. High tide was about 8:30. Don't know the water temp as my FF's temp isn't working. Air temp was a nice 65 to 70.
Put in at Lower Castaways Park and headed over to Balboa Island. Caught a couple of keeper sized spotties along the wall just east of the yacht basin. After that I fished along the north/east side of Balboa Island to stay out of the breeze, nothing happening there. Headed over and fished the south side of Harbor Island and lost count of how many spotties I caught! There's a section of about 4-5 unoccupied docks on the south side where I was catching them left and right. Hung out there for about 30 minutes before it was time to head in. All were caught on Hook-up baits; red crab. Nothing else was working except for that. Was off the water around 10. Great fun for a quick trip! |
