Rock Creek Lake 9/6-9/9
Fun, Summer is over camping, kayak fishing and hiking trip with my wife and daughter (before she goes back to WWU. RCL is walk ups only and figured after Labor Day mid week would be no problemo and was right, although pretty full up by the weekend. We got our pick of sites and ended up choosing site # 20.
The other option was 25 and 26 right above the creek, but 2 sites right on top of each other. Site 20 you need to carry stuff up as the wheel barrow they provide won't work well with the rock steps. We kept the kayaks down below and wheeled em to the water easily. Best camp site I have had in regards to not being right on top of other campers. We lucked out on perfect weather, winds never much more than 10 knots at any time. 70s and lots of sun and 40s at night with tons of stars. Fishing was slow for everyone on the lake and other than a monster lost. Just dink rainbows. "do you want me to take your picture?" No I do not want a pic of me holding an 8 inch trout We hiked into Little Lakes Valley, super crowded, parked in the 2nd over flow lot. Would love to go back pack in there next year for a couple days. We had overnight permits that did not get to use as we left a day late due to work. We like to go somewhere different up there every Fall, so will be trying to figure where to go next September. This was a good option took $2 showers on Saturday after hiking at the RCL Resort and ate breakfast there on Sunday morning. Campground was well taken care of and one of the quietest I have been in.
