Redondo WSB Release July 7th
I received this from Rich Ford at the WSB grow-out tanks in Redondo today...
"Dear volunteers, It is that time again. We get to free our babies. Release is set for this coming Saturday, July 7th. Joe Ryan and myself will be the team leaders. We are trying to get the helpers to arrive in two shifts. The first shift is 10-1 and the second is 1-4. In the past everyone showed up at the start and then got tired and we did not have many people for the end of the release. You do not need to RSVP, but it would be helpful. Just try and think of which shift you would like to attend. We need lots of help like always. Thanks in advance for all your help. Rich Ford" The grow-out tanks are in the Sea Lab Aquarium area across from the power plant on Harbor Drive at Yacht Club Way on the north end of King Harbor. Please wear old shoes or boots as you'll probably get a little wet. The normal procedure is to net the fish in a big Halibut style soft net then transfer small batches of about 6 fish at a time into the tanks on a trailer parked in front of the tanks. The fish are then trucked a few hundred yards to the marina and harbor where they are usually pumped out of the tanks with the use of a big hose.
