February First 6:Out - Mission Bay
Today FishingMike and I went out. My first time getting my Yak wet in 2017. Got out on the water at Mission Bay at about 6:30. Sun was barely up in the sky. Cold and crisp out. I think it was about 46 degrees. Water was calm and cold. No boats launching and no one on the water.
On the troll I received my first lazy bite about 30 yards southwest of the launch ramp. Missed setting the hook. About 10 minutes later caught my first fish of 2017. Small sized sand bass. At about 7:30 the bay was alive with crew races. Had a couple other lazy bites but again could not set the hook. Maybe I was a little slow and rusty. Wind picked up at 10am. Off the water at 10:15. Final count. Me - 1 sandbass Fishing Mike - 1 spotted bay bass. Look forward to getting out again next weekend if I am lucky. Big Bay next time. May the fishing gods be good to you all. |
