November 26th Day on San Diego Bay
FishingMike and I went out today from a different spot on San Diego Bay. We elected to try the Liberty Station Launch Ramp. Got on the water just at sunrise. Cold morning but the water was warmer than the air. No breeze blowing at sunrise and the water was calm.
Launched from Liberty Station which has a small launch ramp. Parking there on weekends is open but need a permit Monday - Friday during business hours. Saw some bait fish and had a soft bite on the way to the big bay. Had a feeling I would catch my first fish at the bridge which I did. Hooked into a nice sized Mack. FishingMike caught a good size bonita just south of the bridge. He then went down towards Spanish Landing and caught several Cuda's. I caught a nice bonita just off of Tom Ham's. Both of us caught several fish on the troll. Cuda's and bones hit a lot on the troll. I caught two 12 inch spotties SW of Tom Ham's. One on a lure and one on a sliver of squid. The cuda I caught was on a croc. We fished until about 10:45 when the wind picked up and we knew the storm was coming in. FishingMike caught a couple spotties off of Liberty Station on the return to the launch ramp. Fishing Mike's count: 1 bon, 4 cudas, 2 spotties, and at least 6 macks. My count: 1 bon, 1 cuda, 3 spotties, and 4 mack. I have attached a few pics including the lures I used. Hopefully it will help someone on their next trip out. |
