Refugio Report

Fished Tue. and Wed. at Refugio State Beach. Made bait Tue. morning; lots of Spanish and Greenies. Took about 45 minutes to make 8-10 good pieces. Wasn't paying attention and had the pump come unpluged, all the bait rolled. Made more bait and trolled around the kelp beds looking for the ghosts; no love. Went out Wed. and talked to free divers on paddleboards in the kelp. Said they saw some 20-25 pounders but clean water wouldn't let them get close enough for a shot. Tried trolling the macks again, no love. Wind suddenly came up out of the NW blowing a good 30-35. Couldn't paddle against the wind so beached it half a mile south in 3 foot comers, hard landing. Drug the X up to dry sand and walked back to camp for my wheels. Met the lifeguard on the way, asked if I was OK; he saw my landing! Still had fun! bosco
