How much line are you guys using for the tow line?

I know some have enough to tow behind the kayak. But wouldn't that cause problems by getting tangled in the rudder?

Why not just have it attached just to the side where you can reach it easily? I'm not too concerned with a shark chewing on it so having it on the side seems like the most convenient way to go

I've never used one before so I don't know the logistics of how to use one yet.

Can some of you using them chime in with how you are towing them and why you chose to do it that way

Thanks in advance
