North County Offshore mission (8/1/15)
Went Fishing Saturday in North County. We wanted to punch offshore for some exotics. So we launched at table tops and went out about 2-3miles between tables and the race track in Del Mar. Made bait just outside the kelp EZ. We saw a few boats out deep and decided to head towards them. On the way out we saw a bunch of bird action that looked like they had fish under them. We slow trolled green backs through them and got bit. At first we thought shark because it swam toward the kayak, then it took off with short tail beats and we thought Tuna! got it to color and it was just a nice Yellowtail. Then saw dolphins in the area with birds all over them. Paddling towards them. We thought we saw tuna jumping so we trolled though them, nothing. On the way back in we got picked up again by something, Zing-Pow that cut the line... Seal, Shark, Wahoo... haha who knows. No positive ID on anything. One more yellow on the way back and we called it a day.
We must of had a few boaters scratching their heads seeing us out there. We had people trolling around us. Huge ocean and boats coming with in 200 yards of us. haha Hope you enjoy the video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY5CuN2Qmwk |
