My PB Butt, La Jolla 02/15/15

Got to the launch site at 5am but decided to take another 1 hour nap before prepping the gear and hitting the waters. Launch at 6:30am and it was at high tide and with water the pretty flat. Bait took awhile to make, but manage to get a dozen of mix spanishs and greens. Water temp was 63 degrees, clear skies, and hot weather. (Perfect, glassy water)

I hooked up a ling cod on a mack and later my buddy hooks up a bigger ling on the iron. Both were C&R, photos taken and let go.

Then finally I set a green down to 130ft and my reel go off. Excited to finally catch something decent of all the 5 times I been to La Jolla. So I start to reel and set the drag a bit tighter since I had the star drag set for the live bait with the clicker on. 5 min into and I see color and grab my gaff. I gaff him on the back since he was hook on the trap rig not the actual hook. Bleed him right away after reading and seeing many fellow kayakers do it. Measured 33in weight 16.5lbs (home scale).
