Salt Life
Good Morning … I don’t care what any-body say, I’m hittin’ the water right at First Gray, Load up greenback macks in my bait pale, I’m ready for Jewel Homeguard – Yellowtail! As I drift slowly, wave after wave, The fight that’s comin’ I anticipate, Now my clicker goes clickity-clack, Heartrate shoots up, my brain gots it’s smack, I know my mack is under attack, Then BAM!, gets hit like a running back! Set the hook and the pole goes south bendo, Fuck man the phone rings – uno momento, Ain’t nobody got time for dat, When I’m in the middle of marine combat! Set the drag, get on with the sleigh ride, The feelin’ I get, I can’t even de-scribe, I love it when things are in full swing, LIFE ON THE WATER’S A BEAUTIFUL THING! After a few runs, my victim is tired, He comes up to color, and that’s what’s desired, I set the gaff right behind the head, Pull him onboard, and pay my respect: Thanks for your Life fish, it won’t be wasted, Throughout many dinners it will be tasted, I cut the gills and as the body goes slack, I know he’ll be fine, ‘cause God’s got his back. If it’s in your blood, then you know my friends, Fishin’ ain’t catchin’, but that’s the beautiful thang, Got one shot at this life, so before we dismount, Let’s get the fuck out there and MAKE IT COUNT, yeah! The hali pictured here was caught last year - combined effort by Eric, Bert and myself. Last yellow caught on Wednesday - 22lbs., deeper water, working the bouys. |
