Mission bay shore fishing help
Hi all,
I am looking for some advice, I want to go shore fishing in mission bay this weekend, and am looking for some advice on what lures to get and which of my gear I should use. I have never been shore fishing in CA salt water before, so I have a bit of a learning curve. I was thinking of buying some lead heads and big hammer swim baits to go with them, but don't know what size/ colors are appropriate. I have some artificial worms that I can take if those will work. Basically I don't know anything about the bass in mission bayor how to catch them from shore. Any ideas on a good location? I am looking to make this a nice easy trip, just to get some line wet and catch and release some bass. Also, as far as gear, I have a penn spinfisher v on a 7 1/2 foot medium heavy rod and an ugly stick ticker 15-30 with a pfluger reel. Both reels spooled with 65lb braid (I usually fish la jolla for rockfish) but I have some 20 and 30lb mono as well. I do have a couple of freshwater trout rods with 6lb mono as well, would those be a better choice? Sorry for all the newbie questions, I appreciate all the help! |
