Launched at about seven and couldn't find bait anywhere.
A big thanks to Adi for giving me a few greenies
The greenies definitely got some nice play along the bottom but nothing would really commit.
With or without marks on my fish finder, I constantly used the iron. Got hit on the retrieve right off the bottom in about 110 feet and the sleigh ride began. The first few minutes were spent with me just trying to keep line on my reel as I was getting pulled towards the kelp. I started to pump the rod hard and was able to get on top of the fish but it was still at the bottom. It felt like I had to pry it out of the sand. Once I got it moving again it came up and only took one more easy run before it got gaffed.
Weighed in at about 34 pounds after it pooped in my hillbilly cooler.
