Making Greenies

Yesterday in LJ I came up on a wad of yaks tight on the kelp edge. I was like...what the heck are these guys doing bunched up? Turned out trying to make bait without much going on. That edge is where I usually get mine. But when it's not working, you gotta change it up. Meter around. With a good meter, zig zag that area between 75-100' looking for feeding greenies. Don't forget about just outside of the reserve(that's where I found plenty yesterday).
Spend extra time trying to find quality bait in the quantity You'll need for the day anticipating seal problems, using two rods, etc...one thing I always remind myself on: when I fished the sport boats back in the day, I always used the hottest, hardest to catch baits. That's what these fish want. Take the time to get the right bait and change them with frequency if you can. A hot bait gets bit above all else. Jim
