Tidelands 6/23
The bass were definitely biting well today. However I kept getting bad hooksets and short bites preventing me from landing much. I managed to and one spotty and a short halibut using gulp shrimp under the bridge. I lost around 6 other bass at the surface when they decided to let go. The halibut was around 16 inches so it went free but it was my first halibut on an artificial so I am still happy with him. I got plenty of bites on a large variety of lures but the gulp shrimp did best especially when they were bumped into the pillars holding the bridge up. One thing I am trying to figure out tho is there was something pushing bait at the surface in the middle of the afternoon against the bridge pilings. It was definitely some species of fish but I could not get a good look at it. I was just not expecting to see a bunch of boils in the middle of the afternoon. I think it was most likely a halibut making passes since there was only one fish chasing the bait. Also early in the morning I spotted either a dolphin or a pilot whale cruising under the bridge in the direction of the back bay. All in all a good day on the water.
