Launched out of Glorietta yesterday around 4 pm. Fished the drift from the golf course to tidelands, maybe got a bump or two from lizard fish on a 4 inch grub and 3/8 lead head. Current shifted from West to East, to North to South. I ended up seeing an older guy in a 4 hp dingy cruising around the back side of the boats there under the bridge heading north. I said sure I'll follow this fella, I'm always looking for a new fishing spot. I've never had good luck at tidelands anyways. So I paddled anxious to see if there was a nearby honey hole that he liked to drop in on. It has been a few months since I actually pulled the yak out due to too much chaos. Anyways, he wasn't interested in fishing in the least. I found this out about the time I actually passed him by the MIDWAY! It was a great trip and I turned the fishing trip into a workout. Met my wife and kids at Harbor Island and pulled the yak up on the rocks next to the shore anglers hooking up on short flat fish, rays, and macks. Take away? Don't assume the guy in front of you knows what he's doing, Tidelands still sucks, and don't be intimidated by a long paddle. It puts the range of things in perspective.

Tight Lines, J
