Kisu and kawahagi

Got out yesterday in Zushi, about ten minute drive from the house. Due to the week long holiday called Golden Week (sort of like a country wide spring break), the ocean was an absolute parking lot. Little was being caught.

Ended up with a dozen kisu and 2 kawahagi (whiting and threadfin filefish). Both are very tasty, the kisu making excellent tempura and kawahagi being good for sashimi.

I tried using the kisu for live bait, hoping for a hirame (olive flounder, the Japan version of California halibut, very similar), or a magotchi (bartailed flathead), but I didn't even have a bite.

In the afternoon the seabreeze picked up and I finally called it quits. To fish two rods, I just put the rods in the rod holders and kept paddling throughout the day, paddle drifted a lot of ground.

No big fish but can't complain.....
