The "Dead Zone"
Great glass conditions, very little if any wind, very limited water movement. 3 guys hooped 5 hours = 0 lobsters WTH? There are lobsters over there? Right? We tried everything from 10 feet to 60 feet, right on top of structure, next to it and in the middle of open space. NOT ONE SHORT! Someone please take mercy on me and give me some info on that area. I went out last tuesday in San Diego Bay, close to rocks and structures close to the open Pacific. Zero lobsters, no smalls. One baby stingray and one 13" Sand Bass.
On my first two trips I caught 6 lobsters and then 5 including the smalls. Thats fishing I guess. Maybe Billy Idol scared them away Last edited by ctfphoto; 10-22-2011 at 05:51 PM. |

WIDE OPEN FOR SEALS!!!
Matt, made me follow him to the death ZOne. ( well i just didn't want him to go to the death zone by himself...) As bycatch, we caught 1 million sea urchins, 4 scuplins, 10 star fish. No lobster for us to night!~ maybe next time Matt even made a huge bird come and attack me in pitch black darkness

Don't take it personally, calm, clear conditions are not the best for bugs to be out and about. I used to free dive an area that I knew very well and on super calm nights, the nights where you'd actually want to dive, the bugs were often as far up in thier holes as they were at noon. Keep banging away. Mike

We gave grief to Matt all night long about the super long paddle and ZERO lobsters, and on top of that he was stuck with me all night long.
I even told him this morning that my friends got limits ( when they really didn't get any, to make him feel even worse) He then sends me a text a few hours later with " BS!!!! I called my friends and they got skunked Too".. LOL matt so funny messing you lol

Glad I didn't go out with you guys. At least the spot I hooped at least produced shorts.
