La Jolla 01/25/06 AMs

Been out on my boat today, lamb crew looking for lamb.

Not much happening. Checked South, middle and North (by the Pier). Very quiet.

Descent downhill current. Water 56.9, VERY clear. You could see the bottom in 40ft.

We chummed some catfood for dozen of spanish (one by one though) with the first daylight, at the very edge of the reserve, by the kelp.

Enjoyed the ride to South kelp in 20ish ft of water, with a clear view of the bottom...

Played with my Olympus 720 SW underwater mode... All pics right from the surface, just dipped the camera in the water.

Hey Masta, is the boat rubber eligible for the Plasticman?? :P

Nice pics, Adi. I was also out there with Ryan and Sam... Lot's of scales in the water, I couldn't figure out where the dines were hangin' out.

Arrived at the launch at 0545, and waited for Ryan (the Sealion) and Sam (Kelpking) to show up. Launched at lowtide into some ankle slappers, water 52-57, light SE wind, water vis. 30-40'. Headed to the pier to make bait, but it was tough. After 30 min. of nada, we decided to troll for greenies and head to the "spot". I picked up 2, but that was it. I soaked bait, and yo-yoed... Nothing happening, so we rigged up some squid for some bottom action... Okay, I needed something to pull on . Landed at 1030 to more ankle slappers.

Wow the vis looks good. Driving out of bird rock this morning the water hasn't looked as good as the last few days. Hope it is clear to dive one of the reefs tomorrow. Thanks for the pics, very nice!

Ditto on that Block, a soupfin...

Here's some carefully edited video of shark fishing/whale watching. Background music is a courtesy of Mano Negra ( )... I liked to play that back in the day when I was a DJ...

I liked the director's cut better. More swearing, less gay nightclub soundtrack. 8)
