Halibut slime does wonders for sealing paint. Haha sounds like you've got a real problem to solve.

You ask for help yet flip us off?
I rinse yak and truck with freshwater when I get home....then the yak again when I unload... Not sure other loading arrangement would help you keep salt off the truck. This works for me.

You need to dissolve the salt, I'd go with soap and water after each trip if you're worried...you can always drive through a carwash afterwards if it becomes a hassle.
Has anybody thought about driving the car with the yak on the roof through a touch free wash? That'd be a pretty sweet way to clean the both at the same time. |

Water + Soap + Rinse. I do this everytime. Most times I don't actually hand wash it. I just get some suds going in a bucket and toss it on, then hose off.

Get a protable pressure washer to rinse the kayak before you put it on top of your car. No salt, no problem.

Get a decent car wax and wax the roof every 2 to 3 months. That should keep the salt at bay. If you are going to use soap, then probably wax a bit more often.
