Creating a monster

The Grandson and I didn't get a chance to catch anything last time he and I went out on the yak together. This time we went early and hit some of my favorite spots to fish without the wind.

We loaded up the yak, put on his PFD, and off we paddled to try and find fish. He was all ready to go and the fish cooperated for him. I got Nathans rig all set and he dropped the line down to the bottom. He was bendo in about thirty seconds. he reeled and faught the fish nicely but lost him right at the yak. He wasn't too bummed and wanted to catch another right away.

We caught a few spotties and we fished for about 30 minutes. Nathan was really digging it until he wanted to help me release one. He touched the fish and it startid wiggling all over the place. I had a good lip grip on him but the little guy wasn't to sure about it. That kind of freaked him out so It was my job to do the releasing.

Eventually his 4 year old mind just wanted to go back to the beach and play in the water and sand. Mostly he just wanted to run around.

We had a blast together just fishing and goofing off. Built sand castles (so he could jump on them) chased him up and down the beach and went swimming. Good times for sure.

He definately has the fishing bug now. That's all he talked about when I dropped him off at his house. I may have created a monster.

The spotties bit on a 3/8 warbait head with chartreuse grup attached. Slow retrieve worked best and the tide was moving out.

All C&R even though the kid wanted to save some to take back to his mom.

Awesome report.....before you know it he will be posting reports of catching monster WSB and YT. Props to you for taking the time to take him out on the water with you. So many kids don't get this opportunity.

Going out in your kid and catching a 10 inch bass.....Sometimes this can be better then a solo 30pound WSB.

Good times. Try bringing a shrimp pump, they love hunting for those things.

perfect age to plant the seed, 3-4 years old because about 5-6 they will start getting into it alittle more and after that you got a fishing partner

Great report Sherm. My sons don't like fishing, but maybe one of my daughters will.
