Wounded Warriors update
They are coordinating with the DPYC and they have reserved parking both in the YC parking lot as well as at the end of the boat owners lot closest to the YC. From what i understand Andy up at OEX sunset is taking care of kayaks for the servicemen/women and there will be a bbq of hamburgers and hotdogs for after the fishing is done. At this point there are 18 confirmed wounded warriors so anyone interested in coming out and playing a guide roll or even just being out there to shoot the shit and wet a line and help welcome them back into society would be great. Also, they are still looking for more rods/reels as well as terminal tackle and lures(mostly probably just plastics for fishing the kelp/pipe) If anyone is interested in donating their time or the use of some of their equipment please let me know and i will pass the word along to the main organizers over at BD. Feel free to respond via the thread or PM me. Thanks for any and all interest. Its gonna be a very memorable event to be a part of. Thanks, Tim |

I volunteered for this earlier and will reiterate that here. I can supply tackle and lures, I have a Pro Angler if needed, and/or I can guide and help out on the water. If one of the vets uses the PA I can rent a kayak from DPJS to go along. Just let me know, email is dvcheaney@ca.rr.com, phone is 951-970-9542.

I had also offered my services but never heard back from the Organizers. I plan to be there and help in any way I can. I also plan to take a lot of pictures, I am kind of scared taking my good camera out on the kayak, but nothing ventured nothing gained... ha ha
I will also use my gopro, I am no genious with editing though and I am not going to use a bunch of cameras, so if someone is putting together a video I wouldn't mind sharing whatever footage I take. Is anyone passing Lake Elsinore area that wants to carpool? My name is Ryan Phone number is (951) 473-3202 |

As far as I know the kayak aspect is handled. We just need volunteers and fishing equipment.
Unfortunately for me I just found out I will have to work that afternoon so I'll probably have to be off the water by about 1130 but either way should be a cool day. I'll pass along to curt how many guys from here will be lending a hand. |

I had volunteered to help but no one ever got back to me. I have at least 8 bass rods and reels that I am willing to loan out and can bring some tackle. Do you plan on just fishing in the harbor? I am not sure where the YC lot is. Is it near baby beach?

That would be killer. I think that is ideally what will be needed as most fishing will be done in the harbor or at the Headlands kelp or the Pipe for bass and maybe halibut. Since it seems as though people are having trouble getting in touch with the guys organizing it i will pass any and all info along to the guys on BD. If you guys who want to volunteer or donate the use of some gear shoot me a PM with whatever contact info is best for you besides BWE PM and ill contact you as soon as i hear from Curtis after i let him know what kind of progress we have here on this end of things. To get to the DPYC just take dana point harbor drive as if your going to baby beach. About halfway to baby beach you can make the left to take the bridge over to the Island. Go over the bridge and make a right at the stop sign. Follow that road to the end and it will run you right into the YC. Its the big building you would see as you launch at baby beach. If anyone wants to get in contact with me my email is timmyreed86@hotmail.com and cell is 949-291-4822 Thanks for all the interest guys. Look forward to the event. Tim |
