new guy with an X factor

i just got this about two weeks ago second hand. looking for people to go fish with, but for now looks like im on my own. wich isnt always a bad thing.

Malibu X Factor

realised i needed leashes and rod holders. so i opened up the garage.

all in all it cost me about $20 to get it started. and yes i sealed all the holes.

Sup buddy. I actually just purchased a second hand x-factor as well. I'm also pretty new to yak fishing (as I've only gone out a handful of times). Heading out to La Jolla Kelp for the first time Saturday. Was thinking of heading down there around 6am as most people tend to launch there pretty early. If you are looking for someone to go out with you are more than welcome to tag along.- Jordan

Because the factor is so big it does not handle well in the surf you are going to have to learn how to store your rods inside the front hatch in the water. I learned this the hard way after many many yard sales.

ya it was rough. i counted the sets, 2 small, then 3 big. first big one would get far enough up on shore to grab the yak, second would keep me in the water and the third flooded the beach and made a big slack tide for about 10 seconds then pulled out and the 2 small ones would start. i got to the front, and pulled it in a bit one the first big wave, second had me in just under waist deep (I'm 6'7") then the third hit and i held on to the yak as it rod over it then hopped on and grabbed my paddle as soon as i got set it turned sideways and i didnt have time to right it straight so i hoped out and grapped the front and attempted to turn it straight and was going to use the two small waves to bring it in and try again, looked out to sea and theres a big swell comming, a 4th large wave, bigger than the rest and out of nowhere since the other sets only had 3 and 2. i didnt have time to turn it and its was a pain to turn that beast with the water sucking the tail end out toward me, 4th wave crashed pulled the boat away from me and flipped it twice leaving in washed on shore... my two rods in the back were fine, but my 10ft Med. light spinner i usually use to surf fish for perch (i brought so i could anchore outside the swells and throw into them to try for perch) came back in three pieces.

im really glad i made leashes and those hatches work.

its still up in the air. i want to. but my dad wants to get a kayak too and i've been lookin on CL with no luck for a stealth, Xfactor, F&D or the like for a decent price. its kinda putting a damper on my adventures right now. haha. and if anyone knows where to get a decent 12footer with seat and paddle, doesnt need all the extras just big enough to get out there and hold a 130lb girl with some camera gear and a rod. i been looking at the caper and scrambler.

I love new yak porn, nice rig...I like the mods on the "gator" hatch, I had an X factor, wouldn't that be a long reach for the rods though?

ya. i think i might take it off and attach it to a milk crate in the back like i did with the pontoon boat and put some flush mounts up there. we'll see how it works out. but with a rod in the far holder it pulls on the hatch and doesnt seem to secure. but with the rods in the center and upright its fine.

What's up Lee. The name is Jordan. I'm gonna be there at 6am. I've got a blue X-Factor on a White F150. I'm gonna drop my yak and gear off on the beach and then go park. Hope to see you and anyone else who wants to join there.
