Irvine Lake: 4/29/11

I decided to go to Irvine Lake and the water was so calm and I was looking for the catfish under some bushes. I finally got my limit of catfish. It is not yellowtail or white seabass, but sometimes it is fun to catch catfish. It has a lot of meat on it and it's similar to fishing Calico Bass in the kelp. I used leftover makeral for bait.

Nice job! For some reason I thought catfish were primarily nocturnal.

I haven't fished a lake yet with my kayak. Do you just leave them on the game clip over the side all day?

ive had some really big catfish fight HARD. Was soaking bait once and had a 10lber pull my rig into the water before i could blink. The only reason i know how big the fish was, believe it or not we returned to the same spot the next day, a guy was fishing a km and snagged the catfish yes the catfish not the rod! it had line to it, so i pulled the line in and got my pole. Definately a fishing story i will never forget
