Fred Hall - My son is hooked

Went to the Fred Hall Show with my son, and dad, it's our Father, son, grandson trip. For the first time there was no stroller to push around, and my son was excited about ALL of the rods, reels, and baits.

Right as we walked in the door he climbs into a boat and is ready for off

Then we're off to look at other things. We run into James Nelson, Jim Sammons, the guys from Uni-Butter, and I picked up some things all around the show. Bought my son a fishing rod, I picked up 4 bags of plastics from James Nelson's booth for $20 and there are more baits in there than I know what to do with.

The best part of the show was when the fishing ponds opened. Nick was first in line and ready to go. He's still not tall enough for the pond so I had to hold him while he fished. Nick caught his first fish and now he's hooked. His words after catching the fish, "That was wonderful."

First fish

I realize those fish are hungry and are an easy catch, but feeling that fish pull got his heart racing, and the blood boiling. I love it.

The deals are there if you look for them, and the fun is there if you make it that way. Those who are expecting people to throw free stuff at them, well you may be not so happy with the results, but for each person the show will offer its own pleasure.

To quote your boy. That was wonderful, sounds like you created a fun day for him and lasting memories for you. Cute kid.

He's already asking me for a Kayak like mine. That's cool.

Went back today and the results were the same. Trout number 2 and a smile from ear to ear. All we went for was so that he could fish again. Saving the big fish trip for a better weekend. We climbed into a lot of boats today, he played with the Dock dogs, fed some ducks, and I tried out the Avet reel casting area. I'm grooving on the Avet reels now, I may have to get one now.

He wanted to go back again today and catch another fish so we went back. He checked out more boats, played with the dock dogs, and I tested the Avet Casting reels, now I love them. His first time through he did not get bit. Second time through he hooked up and was just as excited as yesterday. Everyone he walked by he was telling them he caught a fish. Not as big of a fish as yesterday but just as exciting. He is hooked.

He wanted to ditch preschool today and go fishing. As much as it touched my heart I had to insist he go to school. I think we'll have to go fishing this weekend for real and not at the trout puuls. I think he'll enjoy it when he can pull in more than 1 fish.

hey Jimmy, IF you want to borrow a tandem to get him out on a kayak let me know. You could get him out pulling on some spotties in the bay.

Thanks Jim I may hit you up on that. Mom's going to insist on him having swim lessons first, and I can't argue with her on that one. Once he's feels comfortable with that I'll for sure take you up on that offer. I wish I could have stopped at your seminar yesterday but Nick was so excited to get home and show mom the fish he caught. Good thing I brought the cooler with ice in it.
