DP 3-6-11 Trying To Shake The Rust

After 3 years with no kayak or kayak fishing, I finally got back on the water. Felt Great!! Mostly wanted to test my new rigging and test my fish finder and bait tank. Tank worked great (no floaters in 6 hrs). Fish finder worked good too. Fishing was on the slow side. One small barracuda, 1 short 18" range Halibut and the most aggresive bite of the day....a big lizardfish of about 18". Missed a few with just a raked bait to show for it. Definitely rusty and a little impatient but glad to be on the water again!

Congrats on getting back on the water. I've been out for a month and looking at probably another month before I can risk it. It's driving me nuts, I can't imagine 3yrs.

I think you need at least 3 more trips to get the rust off completely. Keep it up. Nice report.

I know the feeling! I'm on my third yak in about 8 years and it feels great. It's extra nice knowing how to rig the thing and what to expect on the water. Can't wait to hook something big!

Definitely nice to know how to rig your yak and what to expect. This is also my third yak. I had made bait tanks and installed fish finders on my first 2 yaks so I already knew what I wanted to do this time around. All the new gear made for us kayak guys makes it a lot nicer as well. I'm really digging my new setup.
