I used to watch the USCG rescue boats practice in the mouth of Humboldt bay. It's not Cape Disapointment or the Columbia River Bars but it can be deadly and horrible. We used to sit on the jetty drinking beers and cheering. It's even more crazy when you're surfing there and they show up. It's even more amazing from sea level. It's a good to know those guys are ready, willing, and able to get out there and save your ass. Mike
