Remebering my first WSB ,and 2nd and 3rd

Back in June of 97 down at my house in Mex ,I had been kayak fishing for 2 years with luck on YT and fat Buts but no WSB .Then my neighbor down there Stuart asked me to go out with him on his zodiak .We trolled around and made 2 dozen mini macs and headed out to the northwest corner of the kelp bed out front .It was one of those sunny ,glass smooth ,no swell kind of days .We tied off on some kelp and Stuart launched his mac out giving it what seemed to be 200 yds of line .As I looked into the live well I asked him how many WSB he had gotten here and his reply was " I saw one here once " He had been fishing these waters for 10 years and Saw One Here ONCE .I thought "What the hell are we doing here if he saw one here Once " As I pondered these words I look back and see a school 15 ft wide and way back of 3ft plus long fish , I ask him "Do they look like salmon from above ?" He said "Ya ,you could say that " by that time the school was right at the back of the boat ,so I pin on a mac and tossed it out about 6 ft to the side and the water erupted ,I was on ,with only a few cranks and a heave I had my first WSB in the boat . A 30lb class and the school still under the boat .Stuart looked back and freaked out , he proceeded to reel his bait back to the boat at a furious pace .Mean while I pinned on another mac to land my second bass ,and Stuart was still reeling in his bait . I tossed in the third mac for my final fish .All was beginning to end less than 10 min .Stuart got his bait back to the boat and the school was gone.He whined and cried "Why didnt you tell me ?" I said" You're the long range junkie ,why would I ask what they look like if I was'nt looking at something ?" We motored around for another hour trying to find the school again to no such luck .We headed in and once to shore I gave Stuart one fish and my friend Goyo who is one of the local Mexican works there the other . Moral of the story," Once is enough to have a little faith and a lot of luck" Stuart still whines about that day even now.
