Coupla Days

Fished a couple’a days this week.

Thursday fished Dana with Zed and Rossman. Was hoping to find the Halibut, but they were a no-show. I did manage to hook two different broken pieces of lobster traps though (a new personal best!)

I also managed to pull up a greenback, a queenfish, and a small sandbass on the same sabiki drop (also a new personal best!)

My greenie got raked, so I dropped down the queenfish and turned it into a chunky sandy.

Pulled up one more sandy and called it a day around 9ish. The halibut in Dana have me stumped this year.

Friday I went out on a buddy’s boat to try and get some of the YT action at the Nado’s. The YT were basically a no show, but we did get a good steady limit of rockfish from relatively shallow water. Highlight for me was pulling up what I think is either the world record sand dab, of some sort of flounder. He also puked up a mantis shrimp, which was pretty rad. Here’s some pics-

Snake

Nice Variety of Tacos

Puked up Mantis

And lastly, Yani’s recent video post reminded me of a video that I had on my computer from last year. I had forgot that it on my computer, but the snapping jaws, well placed gaff shot, and fresh blood brought back so many memories.
If the vid is small I think you can click on it to make it bigger.
Enjoy.

Sand dab is my favorite, tender and tasty, I hear the mantis shrimp is also quite good....any harvest regulations on those?

Stevoo,

Love the music choice on the video! And the fish
from dana, wow, you guys scored on the rockfish.

No halibuts in dana? Have you tried south of the
marina?

Nice coupla days on the water there Steve! Good eats for sure. I'm puzzled by that flounder. I'm a nerd when it comes to species, but I can't place that one. Maybe a huge English sole or Dover sole??

Dunno. Here's another look at it. My two guesses are southern flounder or four eyed flounder.

I think you got it. Looks more like a southern flounder than any of the others.
