Roll Call.....2/11
I hope everyone landed fine. I fought this little fishie for about an hour and let her go. She was too big for my fish bag. And I didnt want to drive up the 5 with a shark on my roof rack. Made a beeline for the launch and Mcdees straight after. Back in LA by 5pm. ankle slappers today. Last edited by peguinpower; 02-12-2010 at 06:23 PM. |

Nice T Shark, even better release.
Did you see anyone else hooked up? Was the surf a bit tricky today?

Nice under water shot. The high winds proved to be too much for me. got back early and headed to jack in the box and got the meal deal. fighting that wind today made me hungry. I hate wind!!

Nice meeting you today Bing. Great underwater pick on the shark. I did not catch anything today but had a good time on the water.

Hey bing...I may have tail hooked the same T as you today. Actually, yours looks bigger based on the photo. My finder wasn't working until he smacked the crap out of it with his tail. To show my gratitude I let him swim off. Although he still got me in the leg with that damn tail.
Went bugging with Wade afterward. Now its time for some zzzzzzzzzzzz. |

Bing, good seeing ya. Nice release. I had several long tail encounters on greenback, sardine and blue and white Wind was higher than expected, but did turn from off shore to on, a little after 9AM.

Nice meeting ya Bing.
I went well prepared and was very warm and tosty. I even took my thermos for my hot coffee. I knew I would be warm so at launching I didn't time anything and just went for it. Got a nice one to the chest . It actually felt kinda good. No big fish for me. Oh well, my first trip for 2010 felt good. Itss gonna be a good year. I feel it Gabe

With documentation
Andy sent me a pic, and to be honest the fish might of been a little bigger the thirty. The deal is it's hanging straight up and down so all you can see in the pic is just the head in the water. It wasn't hooked well, just in the skin on the outside of the head and since she was hanging straight up and down I figured I had two choices either go around and try and stick her in the top of the head at eye level where she'd see the gaff coming or underneath through the gill plate where she couldn't see it but I'd have to put it through all that bone. I decide to blind-side her from underneath and I really laid the wood to it but the gaff just glanced off the gill plate and when she took off the hook pulled. Nice fish, biggest halibut I've seen in years, if the gaff had stuck it would of been a whole different kinda day for me All good though. It's not like you see fish like that all the time, just seeing it was enough to get me going Jim |

Lots of life right before dark. Gary hooked a fish that towed him around some right before dark. I never saw it but he was pretty sure it was a yellow. All good... Like I said all good, we had a great time even if we did not have much to show for it. Jim |

BTW, a pod of dolphins came to me and hung out for a while. I think they were around me for at least 7 minutes. They circled, jumped and did all those flipper things
I took a lot of pics underwater, but for the life of me, I can't seem to point the camera in the right direction |
