LJ - Last week? no fish in oct.??

The surf was up most of the week but the waters stayed pretty warm with lotsa fog in the mornings. I've seen ton of boneys, barracuda, and sharks this last week along with lots of bait boilin in the 80-90ft areas outside the kelp, but i'm sure thats just the boneys chasin bait...but judging by what those boneys are coughin up i think the big fish are already here, we're just too occupied by the boilin bait to find them!
Anyway, this weekend looks pretty nice, and close to a full moon...so GO FISH!!! and dont be afraid to change things up while everyone else fishes for sharks and boneys!!
JOSH, we hav'nt seen one quality fish posted by anyone this month...ru on vacation? come on stop holdin out and feed us some stoke!!!

They are there, they're just scared . I predict next week will be a big producer after this system passes.

As much as I'd love to keep sharing the stoke...

I also love fishing without a soul in sight . Who wants to keep seeing the same dude holding big fish? Not me. Well, I'll admit I love looking at pictures of myself holding giant fish. I can do that all day in the comfort of my home, though.

Besides, I did share the stoke already this month with the Yellowtail (40" fork length) below. I think she qualifies as a big October fish.

The regulars fishing around here know I've caught quite a few since, but I don't think the internet is the best place to share the stoke. That said, I'm probably going to keep my posting routine (once a month) until someone else picks up the slack. Unfortunetely, it seems we need to rely on new members of the site to share the slightest hint of incentive. And if you're the type who needs a heavy dose of incentive...I'm sure someone will leak a wide open bite sooner or later. I'm just not, that guy.

On the side of the heavy hint...there are squid in La Jolla. Much like there are squid in La Jolla year round. With two deep canyons joined at the hip, plenty of structure with ideal habitat. It's no secret. These big fish you speak of are also in La Jolla year round...much like most every healthy kelp structure adjacent to a canyon up the coast. Last time I checked we don't talk about those locations on the internet, though. For good reason.

Before anyone starts packing the squid-jigs with plans of heading out in the 25 mph south wind today...some of the Yellowtail I caught in June, July, August and September also had squid in their stomachs. Why a Yellowtail hit a surface Greenback Mackerel yesterday, who cares? The mystery is what keeps me coming back for more.

Remember, as always, the absolute best time to go fishing and I mean the best time, is when you can .

Reminds Me Of Bilbo

This quote reminds me of what Bilbo says at his birthday party in Lord of the Rings: 'I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.'

I think Josh must have been a literature major. Which half are the 'new members'? The line between incentive (good) and and betraying the trust of the secret handshake society (bad) is pretty thin! Pretty cryptic.

Anyway, guess I'll go fishing on Saturday. Unfortunately, when I report back that I didn't catch anything, it will probably be true!

Some of us have jobs, and some of us have ideal jobs that most wish we had...

We know where some of us lie...

Just as we know that some of us don't have to lie.

Lay, lye, lie, all depends on how you read it.

Regardless, still antagonizes me to no end...glad you are cutting back, that only does everything to unnerve me to the bitter end...

The old writing style, the subtle hints, how we despised them yet we wish to have them back.

At least your ass showed up to the MLPA lectures, er, I mean, meetings...

Keep the reports coming bro...sans pics....

There is a cool post up on a different board about a guy and his babe on a yellow tandem hobie...

Looks like there just might be fish in LJ after all
