Need 1 To fill the boat
My buddy has a 26' blackman and we're headed out for some tuna on this Sunday. We are probably headed down to SD saturday evening, grab a few hours of sleep in the back of the truck, and be otw just after midnight. He wants 4 people on the boat, split the cost of bait/fuel. There is 3 of us right now. Last time we went, it was about $75 a person. Probably fishing Mex water, so have your Mex License. Weather window looks great, 70 degree water 40 miles out, good variety and lots of fish being caught. Shoot me an e-mail if you are interested fish4steve@gmail.com |

Please please, pretty please...
Post up a picture of Bully V getting his ass kicked by a rat Yellowtail on his new jig-stick. Looks like a pretty sick late season charge. Good job!

Double hook up on the starboard side, and Tom was on a Yellowfin on the port side. All hell broke loose, but Steveoo snapped a quick pic before he grabbed his jig stick too. -It was awesome. Last edited by Billy V; 10-27-2009 at 09:52 PM. |

I saw this alot on sunday. Pretty fun on the light rig Just finished dinner number 2 from this trip. I found this recipe on Kayak4fish a while ago. By far, this is my favorite recipe for YT. I like to add more serrano to kick it up a bit. Sorry, no Yani dinner pics, but trust me, it's friggen delicious! Ingredients: 4 filets Yellowtail 1 tbsp. Olive oil Salt and pepper to season 3/4 cup Monterrey Jack cheese, shredded 4 Fresh cilantro sprigs For the Ranchero Sauce: 1 tsp. Olive oil 1 cup Onions, sliced 1 tsp. Garlic, minced 1/2 cup Celery, diced 1/2 cup Green bell pepper, sliced 1/2 cup Red bell pepper, sliced 1/2 tsp. Jalapeno or Serrano pepper, diced 1/4 tsp. Thyme leaves 1 Bay leaf pinch Red chili flakes or cayenne pepper 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro, minced 1/2 cup Diced tomatoes with juice 1 1/2 cup Chicken stock Salt and pepper to taste Directions: Prepare Ranchero Sauce by heating olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, celery and peppers, saute for 3 to 4 minutes. Add thyme, bay leaf, red chili flakes, cilantro, tomatoes and olives continue to saute for 3 minutes. Add chicken stock and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and simmer over low heat for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper. Reserve. Preheat grill pan. Season fish filets with salt, pepper and olive oil. Cook seasoned fish in grill pan until done. Place fish in a baking dish and smother with Ranchero Sauce. Top each filet with cheese. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to platter or warm serving plates. Garnish with fresh cilantro sprigs. |

Getting Jim the marlin was sorta payback for him helping me win a Club Marlin Tournament a couple years back. I released a marlin the first day aboard a friend's Blackman 26 Express. They did not intend to go out the second day and felt that I had the Tournament locked up with a fish in the last tournament of the year. Problem was, I was competing against the top marlin angler on our coast, a key member of Team Bad Company in the professional tournaments. So long as they were out there, nothing was certain. I frantically dialed up friends looking for anyone that could run my boat while I was on a fish. Most all had other commitments. Jim agreed to go and we released another fish within the first 30 minutes of lines in. Jim readily accepted and adapted to the minimal instructions I needed to give him and we released that fish in 13 minutes on 30 lb tournament, if I recall correctly. My competition released a marlin and had a sword on briefly that day, but my two marlin trumped their one. It was something I was indebted to Jim for and long felt the need to pay him back. Originally he was insistent on doing his first marlin on his tin boat, but as that requirement shifted, I guess my boat became acceptable and I obliged. Took us 3 days of effort, but we had fish on or shots everyday out there. I know skilled anglers/boatmen when I see them; the rest need not apply. |

-I went with the JX because of the taller spool and narrow body with 6:1 ratio for faster retrieve with surface iron. I use this reel for multiple applications, so its maxed out with the options. You don't need to spend the big money and buy it equipped the way I did. -The JX single speed 6:1 Magic Cast would do a great job at a much lower cost. |
