I'll be there. It will be great to see friendly faces. This is your chance to speak up - this thing isn't all said and done, not by a long shot.

Another bump.
This isn't just about LJ guys. All of the OC and Malibu kayak spots are on the block too.

Most of the kayak spots in the OC are on the block, as well as some of the best launches in Malibu, Ventura, and Santa Barbara. My understanding is that even the worst case scenario maps don't meet their "guidelines" for what they would like to achieve. Could someone post ext C? In addition, saving La Jolla is important for OC kayakers as well, for the following reasons: - It sure is nice to have the option. - The popularity of kayak fishing in La Jolla has contributed to many of the innovations and developments in the sport that we've all benefited from. - La Jolla has attracted many new addicts... I mean.. converts... I mean.. devotees to our sport resulting in a greater demand for kayak products and as a direct result a greater supply of kayak products, kayak forums, magazines, tournaments etc. - It's ground zero in a fight that threatens our sport as a whole, and quite honestly, without the La Jolla guys, kayakers wouldn't really be fighting at all. - People from San Diego are a strange brew, so let's keep them down there and out of DP. It's time for the OC to join the fight! |

external proposal C:
http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mlpa/pdfs/scrsg_r1array_propc.pdf Where would you kayak fish in the ocean if this was the chosen proposal? As we learned at the meeting, it doesn't even meet all the protection guidelines . Quote:

Everyone, please click on that MAP, do you see all that RED That means, you CANNOT FISH THERE.. Don't think you are going to catch n release fish there. That means NO FISHING at all.... This is serious business... I am one of the laziest people on earth, after all I graduated from Chico State , but 1 meeting, and I understood, this is WAR. We need to show up be recognized.
If you dont know what to say, cede your time, I will coordinate that, if you want to speak, and don't know what to say, we will have some talking points to work together as a team. If you have some peace to say, say it! Please show up, I would like to thank the 11 other guys who are signed up from this website, but cannot believe, that is all there is. If you don't show up, you will have less chances to be heard, and you WILL regret it. chris |

Chris isn't kidding. Things are extremely serious - we could lose every bit of La Jolla, the Dana headlands, BKR up in Malibu. This is a rare chance to do it outside of business hours too. Make it happen!

Paul and Chris aren't kidding...
In order to be taken serious, we need support by presence. No Cal & Central Coast were caught off guard, the process was expedited, and now they suffer loss of fishing grounds. Look at their brochure...on one flap of the tri-fold, they outline the entire coast and islands for 3 miles out as no-take zones, yet the very next flap, it shows a guy surf fishing. I don't know about you, I can't cast 3 miles... If you think this whole process is about being fair, having solid statistical proof to back up their agenda, er, plan, then maybe you should attend one of the meetings. Better yet, attend one and ask the board a valid question or concern, and see what response (if any) they give you. It is, without a doubt, unreal how they are going about it. They don't anticipate a battle from us, and my impression is that we are insignificant in their eyes. Smoke and mirrors...they would prefer us to be mushrooms, keep us in the dark and feed us bull$hit... Be counted and be heard... Know that, if they get what they want, there is a 'process' in place to review any closure...every 5 years...
