Kayatank - Minor problem
My recommendation is to remove the metal filter as soon as you can. Here is the picture of the metal filter: |

BAD IDEA, your intake will clog, so that is kind of no bueno. I have been cut by mine when I used it, and my solution was to coat the outside with a bit of marine goop and the problem was solved!!

Or just mind the sharp edges... I remember mine being sharp but it wasn't too big of a deal to avoid.

We now use a molded pump Filter. They run about 10 bucks but are 100% worth it.
