Saturday at the Zoo...

LJ report for 2-28-09.Short story-Launched at 3 to try to make squid. After an hour I just bought some.I dropped a reverse dropper loop and pinned one on a jig.About 5 am the jig gets slammed and for a split second I thought it was the right kind but it ended up being a big Calico-20" and 5# + or -.Too bad it was on 40# gear.Anyways the crowd got thicker and thicker until there was probably close to 40 maybe 50 kayaks and at least 40 boats.I stuck it out till noon.I heard one YT was caught but I never saw it.I snapped a pic of a leopard coming in.I couldnt get away from work last and it seemed I was a day late and a dollar short...

I wasn't out for this last bite but in squid spawns of the past it seemed the bite was between 100' and 200'. That was a nice checker though... Nice picture of the leo too.

I saw no less than 6 leopards on my way in Sunday around noon. All were in about 6' of water.
