I really don't like hooks in a line loop
I would never do this for yellowtail, but if it breaks I'll tie a separate knot on both hooks I have never had a surgeon loop slip.

Nice arrangement of lures ready to go Mitch.
Sometimes hooks with bigger eyes, are cheaper and more practical for such situations. I like the hooks to be as free and unrestricted as possible on a lure, so that leader looks like an interesting option. One of my assessments of a good quality bait hook is how small the eye is. Gamakatsu hook eyes are typically tapered steel thinest at the end. Pro Bass brand hooks are generally cheaper, have bigger eyes that do not taper. |

Ya alot of variables play into it....
You don?t know until you jump in and get your feet wet....
It's nice to be able to view your hooks in person before buying. Tasmanian devil offers a single hook set up. Yes I understand about light stream line live bait hooks. Fastest bait gets bit. Especially on a sport boat with 35 guys. Loop knot or ringed hook let's bait swim more freely. The Problem with a lighter loop knot if you get a big one, could break off sooner than a ringed hook. But you might get bit sooner when tuna are being picky. The hooks I bought were around 10 bucks and did not give specifications on eye size. They are prefect for live shiners. I'm sure I could find alot of choices for bigger eye small hooks under jig hooks. Just need to keep fishing....was wondering John do you do any freshwater bass fishing or do the alligators keep you away I know your not scared of sharks. If an alligator comes after you it ain't know mistaking identity. Big bass came from Florida strain.

You don?t have to be a rocket 🚀
Scientist, to see 👀 it's friction with a loop knot 🪢
And no friction with a ringed hook. Plus ➕️ I don't like paying for extra.... shipping 🚢 that is the genius behind prime 👌 In this case bigger is better.
