Rechargeable Battery Types

What kind of battery are you guys using?

I have been using the AGM type but now learning that these should not be drawn down past 50% I usually run them down to 30% or sometimes ZERO I did recently have to dump one of my smaller ones. Maybe that was the reason.

I primarily use a 7Ah battery for my Lowrance Hook 5 and a larger 14Ah for my bait tank pump. I hear the Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries are the best. LiFePO4

Thanks!

Lithium batteries (LiFePO4) are much more forgiving of high drains. Much more forgiving of bad treatment. Often have built-in battery management systems (BMS) which will shut down the battery for over/under charging rather than just letting them die, which AGM batteries do when mistreated.

They are significantly more expensive, but there are some good bargain brands out there. I'm currently using a Power Queen 10Ah to power my Lorance Hook Reveal 5. I haven't been able to get it below 13v even after 6 hour+ days.

I have a "hobby" solar power system at my house with 600 watts of panels. I ran three 100Ah AGM batteries for a couple of years. Last year I switched to a single 200Ah LiFePO4 battery and get about twice the useable power from the battery once the sun goes down. And it gets to full charge faster than the AGM's did.

My Raymarine Elememt 7 is a power-hungry fishfinder, that I use a 30-ah battery with from ampedoutdoors

My friends with smaller fishfinders have been buying Miady lithium batteries off amazon.

The beauty of amazon is competitive prices, and easy returns. My buddy has retured the Miady battery twice for replacements.
