Mr. October

Landed my first YT on the Kayak this morning at LJ! Picked up my Outback back in June and have been fishing LJ pretty much every Sat since. Lots of great fish have been caught since then, but this was my first yellow. He was a fatty too.
I had two Spanish mackerel on fly lines behind me on a very slow troll, but I was getting a little bit bored and threw a salas 6x down on the bottom blindly. Didn't even see anything promising on my Garmin at that moment. As I got maybe 10' off the bottom I hooked up with this guy. I was almost straight west of the condo in 110' of nice clear 68 degree water.
Really nice conditions for late October.

Here is a quick video of the fight and landing. I fought him for a little more than 10 minutes, so I trimmed the video down.

Congrats on the first kayak Yellowtail. That first one on the kayak, is always special and tastes even better. Love the sheer power they have and the sound of the reel drag and braid screaming.

Nice fish, great job! Thanks for sharing the video. You're right, it's a beautiful fish. Hook him on the drop or the retrieve?
