MDR breakwall and reefs

Hey all.
Launched at MDR boat launch this morning at first light. I got some new lures that I've been dying to try out.

Started out with the Band of anglers dartspin pro in white ghost. The action on this lure is phenomenal. There was a brief surface bite out by the breakwall and the little calicos were fighting over this lure the minute it hit the water and absolutely choked it down. Can't wait to try it in the kelp. Looks great on the drop. So much fun. Ended with 5 little guys.

Decided to head out to the reefs to look for something bigger. A little foggy but only a slight breeze with long period swell so pretty nice conditions. Huge schools of bait on the surface out there. It sounded like it was pouring rain. Made lots of casts but the only thing around the bait that i could see was lots of dolphins going balistic.

Got out to a promising spot and tied on a Chasebaits squid in nitro with a 1 oz. Warbaits jig in firecracker. This lure looks great. First drop and bang, a super fat 20 incher. Got 6 more all big in the next hour. This lure is awesome and was great for the deeper water. Thought I might lose the tentacles but it held up well. All fish released.

Back at the launch by around 10:30. Great morning.
Cheers, Steve

Your MDR reports sounds like you are getting dialed in, making me want to give old MDR a try.

Love those colors on the calicos, looking like they're blushin'. Got caught trying to steal your baits.

NICE! Got love the days when the bigger models want to play. I need me some Dartspins. I keep waiting for Hogan's to get some, but I think I'm going to have to go online. That other bait looks great too.
