San Felipe / Pete's Camp Memorial Day Weekend

Good evening ladies and gents, boys and girls, I hope all is well with everyone...

Just as the title states, we are Baja bound in about a month and just wanted to see if anybody has ever yakd out of Pete's Camp, or near there, and how was the fishing? And by yakd, I don't mean from drunkenness or bad water/comida... Kayakd 😂

Is the water visibility decent enough at times for spearfishing / freediving this time of year?

Is it neccessary to go down closer to San Felipe vs Pete's Camp which is about 8 miles north of S. F.?

First time headin south of the border on the east side of baja, so any and all info will be very helpful and appreciated very much! 👍

Thanks to all!

Never fished or kayaked that far north on the Sea of Cortez.

But generally speaking I have not heard people talk highly of fishing near San Felipe. I guess the netters hit the area around city pretty good. Also have not seen much structure around there to hold fish.

I have been curious to fish the break wall in the harbor but if it was me would drive an extra hour south and fish the rocky shoreline south of San Felipe.

Good time of year for Corvina I hear.

I do not fear the storm as it will teach me how to sail my ship.

Thanks a lot for the info. No bueno... 😑 Probably won't be able to head that much further south than San Felipe due to being in a large group/caravan and everyone's planning on just chillin out at Petes camp mostly. Ill try to persuade some to go further south of SF to hunt some fish, well see... Maybe some others will chime in with some good fishin news closer to Pete's / SF 😁. Thanks tho for your info, I appreciate that 👍

Last time I asked about staying overnight at SF before heading south and fishing there, I was told by many to forget about SF for fishing.

It turned out the roads got washed out and the trip was cancelled.

Oh we're going regardless of what any of you salty kooks advise 😂 But all jokes aside, I definitely like to hear peoples 2 cents about things before I explore unfamiliar areas. Especially south of the border. You'd be a fool to do ortherwise. I'm not a trophy hunter, Im a seafood lover... Some pan fried fresh caught chunks of goodness is all Im after. And as a Spearfisherman I am used to people sayin " Ah there's no fish here / Its all fished out", yet I come back with some delicious saltwater morsels... 😂👍
