LJ This Weekend

Hey there,

Making the trip down from northern California to fish La Jolla. (I've been before)

Anyone else planning to fish?

Hoping I can find someone to link up with.

I woulda been down to make the drive but forecast looking to have some decent swell in the water. I think I'll pass a little past my comfort zone. 3-5 ft surf 5-10 knot winds.

Conditions have me a little hesitant as well. Totally prepared to eat it on the way in.

I'll head in early if I start to feel bad with the winds.

Keep an eye out on the forecast. With weather like this it can change the night before.

Good Luck, hope you kill it.

look at cam right now

run off trickling through. I have not seen the water in months, what seems like an eternity. but I wouldn't put it past me that there is a lot of crap in water. long way to travel for other than favorable conditions. I have not even looked at the weather and or surf reports. this time last year was the total opposite of this year. I feel your optimism, but I would be hesitant to make that long journey. there will be plenty of good days in a short time. maybe someone will chime in with a fish report?

I can just about guarantee you that there will be other kayakers out there this weekend. That wind speed is perfect to provide a drift. And even if the surf at the "Shores" is 3-5', you will only see 1-3' at the launch. Bait has been very hit and miss out there, but the pier (and surrounding area) can improve your odds. The bottom visibility has been poor recently, but still fishable.

TJones,

You were right. Lots of crap in the water. Very easy getting bait this morning but no bites. It was a fairly calm and nice day and I wouldve stayed out longer if I wasn't alone.

No luck. I've heard reports of people catching them on surface irons. Gave that a try for the first time today and no luck as well.

I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Hope to see some of you there!

Thanks for report

Good luck out there today. Better than being stuck working.
