Saturday softball free day on the Big Bay
Fishinmike and I went out this morning and launched from Kellogg’s Beach at 0545. Was a little worried because the wind was coming out of the south. Not a light breeze either. Was certain we would get blown around a lot. Water was comfortable. Tide was low. Trolled my croc out to lower range marker without any bites. Got out to lower range and killed it. Drifted lower range to Shelter Island pier and killed it. Felt like I was at Subway. Footlongs baby. Fishinmike went to North Island Side and hit the Trifecta. Here is my recommendation for anyone that may fish the Bay tomorrow. Motor oil green 3 inch grub or 4 inch ghost shrimp. Cast let it sink and allow to drag as you drift. Worked for me 32 times. Final count: Fishinmike - 2 lizard fish, 4 calis, 8 sandies, and 6 spotties Bubbacee7 - 2 Sandies and 30 spotties. Biggest was 16 and some change. Hope my suggestion helps. Good luck all. |
