Jersey Boy Fish Bat $2.36
Guaranteed to put a lump on your head. 1" piece of schedule 40 PVC pre cut into 24" lengths. $1.25 @ Home Depot 2 end caps, .51 ea. and some RedHot Glue around $5 bucks (maybe a buddy already has some you can use). $2.36 and you're in business. I cut mine down to 18" for optimum performance. Crack some skulls. |

Seems kind of light? What do you put inside to give it some weight without losing the floating ability?

-It works fine all by itself, but if you wanted to use crushed granite, or sand it would generate enough force to crack your yak if you missed, and would not float. This one is very similar but does not float. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0023477016770a.shtml |

the back of my gaff works really well.... It has a wooden dowel for weight and still floats. Used it on lings before. And to be completely honest it'd be pretty sad if you swung at a fish and hit your boat.

way to be creative Billy.
I do agree that a Gaff butt works well, as do a nice pair of heavy dikes. But wood clubs from oex are pretty darn cheap anyways. And btw, your not going to crack a yak by hitting it while swinging at a fish with a billy club. Probably not even if your swinging at the yak. So unless our paddling a fiberglass boat, I wouldn't worry about that. Ive hit some boats very hard with hammers and such, nothing happens for the most part. |

Then why be concerned with it?
To be honest I don't think you could "knock a fish out cold" with that. Or was that a metaphor too? Buy the way, you do understand "enough force to crack your yak" wouldn't be a metaphor don't you? More of a hyperbole. |

The very first time I took the yak out to LJ about nine years ago, I found a Florida Marlins souvenir bat floating near the kelp. It still comes with me every time. I thought it was appropriate the team is named after a game fish, but in retrospect it may be cursed.

im thinkin the pvc will crack. Those wooden billy clubs are cheap cheap cheap. they float, and have the weight to do some damage.
Good idea, but you posted for opinions/input correct?
