Hobie's new Marine Mat

Hobie has a new product in their parts and accessories catalog and it's called Marine Mat. As one of the Fishing Team Top Guns I was offered a great deal to try a set on my new team boat.
It's a precut padded material with adhesive backing. and it comes in a few colors...I choose the Grey and Charcoal color for the camo PA but the color is so cool looking on the camo boat that I couldn't cover it and I decided to upgrade my older yellow PA with the kit.
I asked Kevin Nakada at Hobie for some advise on the prep and he suggested pressure washing the boat first.

The next step was to remove the factory installed black pads...

and clean up all the glue residue with some de-natured alcohol...

Laying out all the precut parts was next...

The pads are adhesive backed and really easy to apply...

I used a paint roller to be sure the adhesive was pushed down into the plastic...

Be sure to press all along the edges to make contact and a good seal...

I put a small pencil mark at the edge of a few pieces to make sure they fit on the spot perfectly...

I think it came out pretty nice and the old girl looks like new....THANKS HOBIE AND MARINE MAT.....

What is the retail on these? What about the color options?

Not a fan of the Hobie boats but really like the Hobie Company. Across all of their product lines they seem to know what the customer wants before the customer knows and then does it right. The mats really look great. What do you suppose the total mat kit weighs for the PA 14.

Incredible! I was going to guess 15 lbs.

So this isnt really a hobie product right ? Because the company marine mat has been making this stuff for kayaks, including hobies, for some time now. Im guessing it could be some kind of licensing deal.

Looks like it adds weight, traps fish parts such as blood, scales, chum particles, ect. Also some of the 1/4" to 1/2" wide cuts look inconsistent in the width.

Appears to be. I was hoping it would be cheaper than the competitors. At this point it's still better to go aftermarket like sea deck since they have more colors and cheaper kits

Correct, Hobie is selling this like RAM products, Scotty, Yakattack, Stohlquist and a bunch of other companies that they co-brand.

Make sure you pick a warm day for best adhesion, I also find taking a heat gun lightly over the surface just before applying each spot gets the backing glue extra tacky.

The main benefits are making it quieter when stuff hits the deck and more comfortable on your feet.

How does it hold up against stains from blood guts and depending on the scary situation you get in out at sea, sometimes pee
