10/15/2017 - Relaxing session yields a PB...Yay!
I decided I wanted a mellow day on the water so I headed out to south San Diego Bay. Still conditions greeted me at twilight. The combination of perfect temps, light to no breeze, a mild tide and clear water made for excellent kayaking conditions but not the most aggressive best bite. In any case I managed a double digit count of smallish to medium Spotties and a personal best (PB) 20-inch class Corvina; lost a barely sub-legal (estimate) Halibut at boat side as well. Best bites happened on a (translucent + green) 3-inch swimbait. Wind started up after 11-AM ending the mellowness so then I went home. Here are some pictures: Just heading out at twilight. Should have brought popper and spook top-water lures: Sunrise begins as I overlook one of the fishing spots: I didn't have a tape measure but estimate this Corvina at 20-inches. It put up a great fight and was very exciting indeed: Here is one of the usual suspects from today's session: All fish were released and quickly swam away! Enjoy... |
