only fished there a couple of times. that chart books looks like it was printed before they were documenting shark attacks on kayaks.

Two Mondays on a private boat we fished that area.

Not much action the first trip, but lots of mackerel and short bass on the second trip. Only one keeper bass.

We did see tuna jumping on the way back to Dana Point, but they disappeared.

This is why it took me so long to finally get my Kayak. But I figured its the ocean and they live there so you cant avoid them in their world. I'm just crossing fingers to never be the one in the news..

Anyone ever try the electronic shark repellent device you attach to your ankle? I wonder if that really do work? I'll be the one to invest in a heart beat!

The warm water discharged from the power plant which was used to cool the nuclear reactors attracted marine life, however the plant was closed about 5 years ago.

The plant is still hot even while not generating electricity... still need ocean water to cool the rods.

Outfall discharge at the plant was thousands of gallons per minute and 20 degrees warmer than the water going in (delta T: 20F) Now, it's closer to 5 degrees and way less water flow.

But the good new is this, Edison planted kelp and reefs starting at San Mateo point going north towards T Street. Recently is was determined that the fish population of those new reefs is not as large as expected, therefore Edison must place more reefs in the area. That's good news for those who like to fish that area, like Cabo John!!
