Must have been too windy or too much current to see. I couldn't find them yesterday. I went there last year in my X Factor and spent the rest of the day paddling against the current trying to get back to Tamarack... Hobie pedals are amazing... what current? haha. |

It's a hit and miss out there. You are directly outside the kelp line in that photo. It's pretty thick out there but sometimes hard to see depending on the tide.
This is me a few weeks ago from there. Yellowtail And this was last week. Sand Bass

If you park on the other side of the harbor near the Harbor police station there is a dock where you can park for free and launch your yak off the dock. It's where all of the seals have been hanging out.
https://photos.google.com/u/1/photo/...x0KiR_2_0nRioL Just don't park in my spot when I am going out there. That's my truck under the O

I used to fish that area frequently. Never caught yellows or sea bass off C-bad. Lots of calico bass and halibut tho.
There's loads of low hard bottom and little kelp beds from the army/navy academy on south to about as far as you want to go. There's the pipeline off Palomar airport road that can provides good fish attracting structure. There's a canyon off Terramar that can hold thresher and mako sharks. Kayak catchable size but 1000 lb-ers too. YT get in all asking the coast. Same with these areas. But they don't seem to settle in and provide a year round fishery. Mike. |

Yes sir you are exactly right.
Tomorrow will be flat lake pacific so I will try it again to see if they are still around. Should be a nice day on the water anyways.
