The most comfy for me are those nylon hiking pants you get at big 5 for about $40. The block the sun and when wet dry quickly. They have a zipper so relief is easy.

I've had my pair for about 3 years.

That sun is BRUTAL OTW.

I wear some of the Columbia nylon SPF pants from the outlet store in San Clemente. About $35 if I recall. Big 5 sells their brand of the same thing for about $25. Lightweight and dry quickly. I always wear pants... too pasty not to.

I love my Columbia gear. Great products at better prices than some of the others (excellent prices if you have an outlet near you.) I'm from AZ and would never paddle without them, regardless of how hot it was outside....

Check your local Goodwill/Salvation Army. I've picked up REI, Northface, Orvis/ExOfficio and Columbia quick dry pants at various times, all for less than $10 a pair

I have some Columbia PFG pants that I used to think were good. A while ago I found some Helly Hanson pants on clearance and I got two pairs at West Marine. Now I never wear the Columbia's. The HH are more fitted, breathable, stretchy soft material(comfortable), and don't make that nylon noise while I peddle or move around. I even wear these when I am not fishing.

I believe they are hiking pants. My suggestion is to get some quality hiking pants from reputable companies. Heck, maybe even Columbia makes some good ones. It's just the PFG ones that I now realize are over prized nylon pants.

I went with these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Very comfortable and water just rolls off.
