Every year is getting shorter...

Make the most of it when you can. Don't wait for the reports, or the call from the bro. Don't sleep in when its windy. Don't watch the surf forecast. Don't stop believing in yourself!

This spring has had no shortage of dreary windy grey days. There has also been no shortage of trophy fish being caught every week. Days you cant find a single mackerel, only to hook a trophy yt on the iron after grinding it all day. Skunk streaks weeks long can quickly transform into consecutive multi-fish days.

The seabass double hookup was crazy. I got hit on the flyline first and the dog was on my fish almost right away. When the second fish hit the dropper loop dragging behind, I thought it was just tangled at first. But once i got the first bass up and battled the dog, the second bass had run out the back and tired it self out. Got her up quick.

These fish were caught on march 1st, the limit of 1 fish was not in effect yet. Thats why I was calling on my cell when i got the fish to color because I thought I was gonna have to release it. Glad I didn't, as the second fish was a PR at 65#. The first bass was 59. 124 pounds of seabass in the kraken.

Hope you enjoy my spring edit.

Did you go on a one month vacation to a place with no internet? Telling everyone about March Madness in June is kind of late, isn't it?

Nice fish Chris....

When you get my age, you fish every chance you get so reports don't matter to me. I fish every week like some guys should play golf every week. I have been off la jolla at night in a wide open WSB bite in my kayak and it was lite up like a small city with boats. I got a fish, but would love to get the jump on that shit...being a local native Diego. Iike the old saying goes by the time you read it it's over. The secret is making friends and sharing information off line. Let your karma reward you.

Disagree...

2 months is the ideal time to wait to post a seabass report.

Great video. Total beast mode. I would need new waders and probably farm both fish if I had a double hookup like that.

The real queston is: Where do you get those rad tunes? I want to test something similar on my new stereo :rotfl:

Way cool report and video Chris. I'm glad you're encouraging fishermen to get out there no matter what. There's always something to learn even during those long drives home--empty handed!

As always, I'm living through your reports! Yanni

Here's a Tip: Make friends with the locals, but remember, it's a give and take friendship that works the best.

Talking Fish reports

I think the purpose of this forum in the fish report category is to inspire the ones that don't spend enough time on the water. If you look at this as the current conditions report and as to whether you should go out, then do us all a favor and stay home. I just love all the FISH PORN. I like seeing pictures and videos of other fisherman catching species that I usually don't. Just enjoy what's posted without looking at the date and get the F...k out on the water as soon as you can! Chris(if that's your first name), this is not directed at you, but at a general direction that has been ongoing for quite some time now...

This website changed...6 or 7 years ago...don't expect timely reports from the "experts"...you have to be on their email list to get in on the hot bite.

I absolutely loved this website 12 and 13 years ago, when we didn't all worry about EXPOSING hot bites and ruining the fishing for us kayakers....bah-humbug

Of course, nowadays we have to worry about giving out "hot" info, otherwise we won't have LJ to ourselves, PBs and other bro/sister kayakers will be horning in on our locale...bah-humbug.
Do we need to treat LJ like it is our own surfing environment, for locals only?

The ocean is huge...Julie and I will continue to give out timely reports...always.

I don't like a lot of other PBers out there, or wads of kayak fishermen out there either, just like the next guy/gal, having it to ourselves is AWESOME.

If you need to keep the "bite" to yourself, why post it on a public forum at all?
You had a great catch, helping no one else along the way, do you really need more glory 3 months later? Hoo-rah!!! You da Man!

Just keep it among you elite, at the time of the bite...don't tell us how great it was 3 months ago to show us your accomplishments and how well you did WAY back then...WTF does that do for us now?

Yeehaw, you scored, YOU ARE AWESOME! Thanks for the info that absolutely does me NO GOOD today.

I'll be condemned by some here, mostly likely applauded silently by others. This isn't necessarily Julie's opinion, tho' we do see eye-to-eye.

For a minute there, I swore I typed in the wrong web address. This Place is sounding a lot like bloody decks.

Late posts, complaints about late posts, folks trying to interject politics needlessly...Bloody decks here we come!

I agree, but provably not for the reasons you think. The whinny start to the post of fish reports not being timely enough. That is what made me think of Bloody Decks! If some of the people who put down Chris had actually been on this site and read post more frequently then they would know his original post was months ago. He was just reposting it as a joke to those who spend too much time on here complaining while not getting on the water enough themselves. Maybe some of those same people might have even seen his post on how to read Fish Finder sonar screens and how to set up the units for best result. It's like they are waiting for the hot bite report before bothering to go out themselves. The ones that are up to date on bait location and recent fish catch areas, are the friend in circles of people who spend 1,2 or 3 day a week out there and text or PM each other. I see nothing wrong whatsoever with that. As the start to this post say's time is short get out there and make the best out of it, without waiting for the "hot report".
